pervasive transcription and regulation of gene expression

We use the budding yeast as a model system to study the effect of pervasive non-coding transcription on gene regulation and the replication initiation program. Another focus is the importance of nuclear organization in mRNA biogenesis and export through nuclear pores. More recently we have become interested in the mechanisms underlying the resolution of DNA-protein cross-links (DPC) deleterious to genome stability and used a Satay transposon screen to identify new factors involved in DPC repair.
