Sara obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Eastern Piedmont in Vercelli, Italy, and her Master’s degree in Molecular Biology of the Cell at the University of Milan. During her Master’s thesis at the Genome Biology Lab (INGM, Milan), she studied how LINE1 lncRNA contributes to genome protection in colorectal cancer cells. She then worked as a research assistant at the Genomic Instability and Tumor Immunity Lab (IIGM, Turin), investigating how tumor ploidy affects chemotherapeutic response in 3D colorectal cancer models.

Driven by a growing interest in cellular mechanisms, she transitioned towards fundamental cell biology. As of May 2026, Sara is a PhD student in Ivana Gasic’s group, where she studies post-transcriptional regulation of tubulin levels and microtubule biology.
